Last night I spoke in the Local Government Finance debate. Intervening on neighbouring Bromley MP Bob Neill, I highlighted Bromley's position as one of the most efficient local authorities in the country.

 

Jo greets Chinese visitors to St James’ RC Primary School

On Friday, Jo met a group of Chinese students who are visiting St James’ RC Primary School in Petts Wood. The group, who come from Tianjin, are learning more about the British education system, as well as spending time in London, Oxford and Cambridge.

Biggin Hill Memorial Museum – Opening this week

The brand new Biggin Hill Memorial Museum opens its doors to the public this week. The museum tells the story of Britain’s most famous fighter station through the personal experiences of those who served there, and the community that supported them.

Biggin Hill becomes a ‘Toilet Twinned Town’

On Friday, Jo visited St Mark’s Church to celebrate Biggin Hill becoming a ‘toilet twinned town’. St Mark’s have been working with the charity Toilet Twinning to encourage local businesses and residents to twin their toilet with one in a developing country.

Orpington resident takes on fundraising challenge

Orpington resident Ray Betts is taking on a 24-hour treadmill challenge to raise money for Olivia Falconer, who has cerebral palsy. Olivia, a student at Midfield Primary School, benefits greatly from physiotherapy sessions which help her enjoy a more active lifestyle.

Jo opens new facilities at Darrick Wood School

At the end of last term, Jo was pleased to officially open the new Movement and Performing Arts Building, PE changing rooms and extended Dining Hall at Darrick Wood School.

Jo meets Network Rail apprentices at Orpington Depot

In November, Jo visited Orpington railway depot to speak with local apprentices who are training to become the next generation of railway engineers. The apprentices spoke to Jo about the skills and experience they have gained through their apprenticeships.

Jo visits HSS (Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh) in UK Parliament Week

Last month, Jo visited Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, a youth group in Orpington. Jo learnt about the group’s commitment to the values of the Hindu religion through exercise and education.  The group provided demonstrations of the activities and games they hold at their weekly meetings.
