Local therapy dog Gunner, and his owner Lois Hyett, are taking part in this year’s Stress Awareness Day by offering free dog therapy sessions in central London. Lois and Gunner are working with charity Therapy Dogs Nationwide to offer dog therapy sessions at five Everyone Active leisure centres in Westminster on 7 November. The events are designed to provide ‘cuddle fixes’ to life’s stresses, and have been organised by Everyone Active in conjunction with Therapy Dogs Nationwide, raising funds for TDN. Stress Awareness Day, held annually on the first Wednesday of November is a great opportunity to take a moment to think about personal wellbeing and find advice or support on managing stress.
Gunner, who is 7 years old and has been a therapy dog since he was 11 months old, regularly visits many varied establishments including care homes, residential units, hospitals and rehabilitation units, and both primary and special educational needs schools.
Jo said ‘I’m delighted that Lois and Gunner are taking part in this charity event on Stress Awareness Day. Not only are they raising funds for Therapy Dogs Nationwide but they are also helping raise awareness of stress and personal wellbeing. I am proud that a therapy dog from Orpington is taking part in this event and does such good work day to day supporting a wide range of people.’
