On Friday afternoon, Jo Johnson visited local business, M3Media.
M3Media launched in 2014 and specialises in the recycling of obsolete recording media, such as physical media tapes. This is a vital environmental advancement, as previously much of the stock has not been properly recycled, instead ending up in the ocean.
During his visit, Jo met with the company’s Director, Toby Manchip, in order to discuss the company’s work to recycle the plastics in a more environmentally friendly way. Jo was then given a quick tour of the business’s new warehouse on the Orpington Business Park, before having a go at operating some of the crushing machinery used as part of the recycling process.
Jo said: ‘I was excited to visit this new local business that is undertaking important work to reduce the amount of plastics in our oceans. The government has an ambitious pledge to create a 'Blue Belt' of protection for our diverse marine wildlife, and advancements such as this will go a long way to restoring our oceans .The success of M3 Media is yet another vote of confidence for Orpington’s Local economy and for a more environmentally friendly country.’
