Local MP, Jo Johnson, attended the official opening of Orpington’s new Indian restaurant, Masala Dabbas, on Friday 8 September.
Located on Orpington High Street, Masala Dabbas’ focus is on providing diners with authentic cuisine from across India’s diverse regions. An exciting team of chefs has been put together with experience from London’s high-end Indian restaurants.
Jo visited the restaurant on Friday and met with members of the Masala Dabbas team. Jo was also able to sample dishes including the traditional street food, chaat, and the sweet yoghurt-based drink, lassi.
Jo said: ‘It was a pleasure to be present at the official opening of Masala Dabbas, the latest culinary addition to Orpington High Street.
We have a number of fantastic eateries in Orpington and this is no exception – Masala Dabbas’ menu offers an exciting array of dishes from all over India with something to suit everyone’s taste.’
The official opening of Masala Dabbas coincided with the inaugural Orpington Food Festival. The festival, which was organised by Orpington 1st, saw residents enjoy an evening of street food accompanied by live music and comedy, and the launch of the new Orpington Market in the Walnuts.
Jo added: ‘The Orpington Food Festival is a terrific event that shows some of the amazing food from around the world that the town has to offer. Orpington is a great place to visit for everyone with a love of food.’
