I continue to press Southeastern for improved services for all rail users and in particular to ensure there are enough services with sufficient capacity to cope with passenger numbers at peak times. I will continue to push for fast services early in the morning, as well as for better fast services back to Orpington in the evening.
Orpington station has 15 services to London terminals between 0658 and 0757, giving a train at less than four-minute intervals at this peak time. Capacity is also being increased on a number of existing routes between Orpington and London - the 0721 and the 0757 services will be formed of 12 carriages to alleviate pressure of passenger numbers.
I am in regular contact with the management at Southeastern and will continue to campaign for further improved services for hard-working commuters in the constituency.
Improvements to the car park at Orpington Station car park were completed in January 2015, following a £1.9 million development project. There is now a new deck at the car park, with an additional 142 spaces created for rail users. This will significantly help to meet the demand from the growing number of passengers using the station on a daily basis.
